Homestead Class: Sourdough

One of the most rewarding hands-on learning experiences at the Chisholm Trail Outdoor Museum is coming this spring.

Step into the spirit of the homestead and discover the timeless craft of sourdough baking in our Homestead Class – Sourdough. This immersive workshop teaches guests how pioneers and early Texans used simple ingredients and patience to create delicious homemade bread. Participants will learn how to make and maintain a sourdough starter, how to properly feed and care for it, and how to prepare traditional sourdough scones.

This class is designed for beginners and anyone interested in traditional homesteading skills. Best of all, every participant will make and take home their own sourdough scones along with the knowledge needed to continue baking at home. All ingredients are provided, and the experience takes place in the historic setting of the museum grounds — making it both educational and memorable.
