Contact the Chisholm Trail Outdoor Museum

Walk the same ground where cattle-drive cowboys, frontier families, Native artisans, Texas Rangers, and Civil War soldiers once met. Chisholm Trail Outdoor Museum preserves far more than Ranger lore: explore the Big Bear Native American Museum, tour the original 1854 Johnson County Courthouse, watch sparks fly in the blacksmith shop, step inside our restored stagecoach stop, and wander through Wardville’s historic jail, cemetery, and mule barn. Whenever questions pop up, our friendly team is ready to help you plan an unforgettable, hands-on visit.

Plan Your Visit

The museum welcomes guests Friday–Saturday, 10 AM–5 PM, and Sunday, 1 PM–5 PM. Because every exhibit is outdoors along scenic Lake Pat Cleburne, sturdy shoes and weather-ready clothing keep you comfortable. Purchasing admission onsite grants access to live blacksmith demonstrations, cowboy-era artifacts, Native cultural displays, and seasonal programs that bring the 1870s trail era to life.

Group Tours & Special Requests

School field trips, scout troops, heritage clubs, and tour buses enjoy customized itineraries packed with curriculum-aligned activities and interactive sessions. To secure preferred dates and group-rate pricing, email or call at least two weeks ahead. Teachers can request lesson guides; journalists may arrange artifact-access sessions; volunteers and interns should ask about current openings.
